Concrete work in Alachua

The City of Alachua is a mix we like: a walkable historic Main Street with older homes behind it, and newer subdivisions filling in around the US-441 corridor. Both need concrete for different reasons.

On the older side of town the driveways are narrow — poured when one car per household was the assumption — and the most common job we do is widening one, or replacing it entirely with something that fits two vehicles and a turnaround. On the newer side it is patios, extended lanais and shed pads.

Alachua is close enough to Gainesville that we are often already in the county, which usually means we can get out to look at a job faster here than the drive time suggests.

What the ground here does to a slab

Same Alachua County clay-and-sand as Gainesville. Clay moves seasonally, so the sub-base prep and the rebar are what keep a slab flat here — not the mix design and not the finish.

ALACHUA QUESTIONS

Straight answers for Alachua.

Do you actually do concrete work in Alachua?
Yes, regularly. We are based in Fort White, roughly 30 minutes from Alachua, and Alachua County is part of our normal working area. The estimate visit is free even at this end of the map.
What kind of concrete work do you do most in Alachua?
Concrete Driveways and Patios & Outdoor Living come up most, with Slabs & Shed Pads close behind. That mix is specific to Alachua — the jobs we get called for here are not the same ones we get called for twenty minutes away.
Does the ground in Alachua affect how you build a slab?
Same Alachua County clay-and-sand as Gainesville. Clay moves seasonally, so the sub-base prep and the rebar are what keep a slab flat here — not the mix design and not the finish.
Is the estimate really free in Alachua?
Yes, and there is no catch attached to it. Steve comes out, looks at the site, and gives you a real number. It takes about fifteen minutes and there is no obligation on the other end of it.
Can you give me a price for a Alachua job over the phone?
A rough range based on square footage, yes. A real number, no — not until we have seen the site. Slope, access, how much prep the ground needs and what finish you want all move the price enough that quoting it sight unseen would not be fair to either of us.
